Moanalua Elementary School– Oahu, HI

After jetting back from France, Jake Shimabukuro couldn’t wait to visit the students of Moanalua Elementary School, in the heart of Honolulu, Hawaii. The sea of 600 keiki “Surfriders” rolled in the elementary school cafeteria and quickly formed rows on the floor, like waves postured to be taken for a ride! Energetic 1st through 6th graders eagerly awaited the sound of the ukulele played through the skillful hands of Jake.

Kalaheo High School – Oahu, HI

On April 28, 2010 MIGM along with spokesperson Jake Shimabukuro visited Kalaheo High School, home of the Mustangs located on the windward side of Oahu. Jake was delighted to be the guest speaker for their music class that day. MIGM would like to thank Cam Shuford and Glenn Kidani for coordinating this event.

St. Andrew’s Priory – Oahu, HI

On April 6, 2010 Jake Shimabukuro and MIGM had the honor of visiting St. Andrew’s Priory School in Honolulu. Jake and the concert band of St. Andrew’s Priory School were a part of KHON2’s Wake Up Today Tuesday morning show. We would like to thank Gordon Tokishi for coordinating this event.

Maui School Visits - Maui, HI

This month Jake was asked to participate in a full day of events and collaborations with the Maui Arts and Cultural Center (MACC) in Kahului, Maui. In support of the MACC, Jake would head out to four different locations to connect with the local community. This day was filled with student interactions and music as Jake set out to spread his message throughout Maui.

Waiau Elementary School Performance - Oahu, HI

The students of Waiau Elementary School in Pearl City are nothing short of talented. It was an amazing experience for the Music Is Good Medicine team to be surrounded with such rich Hawaiian culture. Seeing the student’s converse with not only the teacher but with their classmates in Hawaiian was remarkable...
